...shut up and eat.
Ok, so I'm pretty much recovered from what could have been the pig flu- however some of it has taken residence in my chest. It seems to be common lately for illnesses to sit in my chest for long periods of time. I don't want to be all congested when I go out to see AZ a week from Wednesday (or bring him yet another illness). I may need to see the nurse this week, though lord knows how I'll pay for that! I'm also taking Sway to the vet this week to see what the doc thinks about an operation to remove some masses and make her life a little more mobile. She's tripping on her masses. I feel so bad for her. So while I was bedridden, I think last Sunday, my hammie Jet passed away. I wasn't happy about it, but sadly I wasn't surprised. He had developed some sort of mass on the right side of his head near (or inside) his little ear over the last year that just kept on growing. It never seemed to slow him down- he was still constantly on his wheel. Which is one of the fond memories I'll have of him, that and running to his fresh food bowl in the morning and grabbing the scrambled egg first thing. He was a wonderful little hammie. I had to keep him in the freezer for a week since I was sick and finally got a chance today to take him over to my 'rents house to lay his little body to rest near his hammie friend Cheeky in our little makeshift pet cemetery. So one very cool thing happened this week despite all my misery. On the day I returned to work- Thursday, I got a call from the police department that I've been waiting over a year to interview me for dispatch. I have an interview and fingerprinting with them tomorrow!! Plus my polygraph is scheduled for when I come back from Arizona on the 13 of November. Woot! I am so excited! A bit nervous- but excited. I went out today with my sister and mom to buy "interview clothes" since it's been more than 2 years since I've had to have "office" clothes, and most of what I have left isn't very appropriate. I have a nice shirt but I was in pretty desperate need of pants, new earrings and shoes. I know, I know I have sooooo many shoes- but I wanted nice, plain, leather flats so that I don't tower over the lady officer that will be interviewing me (I'm just guessing she'll be shorter than I am because most people are). I bought some nice leather flats over a year ago when I started this process- however I started wearing them to work and they're faded from bleach and regular wear. I went to Express again, they've always had really nice dress pants. So I found a plain black and a black pinstripe pair- used a coupon that I got from my last purchase- and even paid off my last purchase so I don't get the bill from that. I bought plain, tiny "ball" earrings from Icing for my four piercings, and though our trip to Payless shoes failed (where do they get off with their off-brand shoes and high prices?), a quick swing around Ross got me a pair of Chinese Laundry flats for only 13 bucks (I also bought a super cool scarf and a pair of sunglasses- not for the interview- hehehehe). A cheaply made equivalent at Payless was like 25 bucks! Wuuuttt??? I think I need to swing by Target or forbid, Walmart to get one of those notebooks that have the "leather look" to carry the papers I need to bring and not bring a purse. Other than that I'm all set for my 1:00pm interview! It was nice hanging out with my mom and sis today. Of course little nephew came along and we left sis's husband at home to watch football. Sis had a craving for Wetzel's Pretzels and I ended up sharing that craving. Mmmm, pretzels and jalapeno cheese! I also took home a foster kitten to babysit for a few days. One of our volunteers had an ant invasion after our big rainstorm. So she had to "bomb" her house and of course can't have the little one there. So I offered to take him until Tuesday when I come back to work. He's got some issues that I'm working on. She told me he doesn't eat solid food still (on kitten milk at 2 months!)- well he pretty much does now, just mix the milk in with the wet food and he's eating it now. He also attacks hands and feet. I won't have that cured- but I'm working on that. He also doesn't always use his box when he's doing #1 so I'm working on that as well. But even with these issues, he's a total little doll and very kissable. He's in his crate now, sleeping. His name is cute too, Finnigan.
