Menu du jour:
We Need To Euthanize Some People

Oh and it gets worse. You say, "couldn't possibly!!" I say... "oh yeah?".

Yeah.

The animals suffered today. So many people coming in with animals they couldn't possibly hold on to for another day. So much of a damn burden to them. Knowing after they're told that we have no room and animals are going into crates in cramped conditions. They don't care. They don't even flinch. 'So?' they say. Not their problem.

15 cats went down before their time was up (I don't know how many dogs) because of the callousness of people. People who think only of themselves and their convenience. Granted, those cats may have had numbered days as it was because they were feral and not candidates for adoption- but there have been times, when given their proper holding period- cats we deemed as possibly feral, turn out to be simply scared and nervous, and go up for adoption. Now we'll never know. They're gone because people are heartless and deserve to suffer a worse fate than a needle and a stone's sleep.

You wonder why I'm cynical? Well I guess by reading this you can wonder no more. You think people care? If they say they do, they are lying, because when it comes down to proving it- they never produce.

I have my little foster rattie. Given up because she was "defective", given up because she was no longer convenient for them. Because she costs money to keep around. "Why spend money on a rat that costs $5" people say to me all the time, "just get another one."

Because it's a little soul. Because that animal, whether it be a "$5" rat or a $5000 dog, deserves the same treatment across the board when you take it on as a pet. It's not about you people. We benefit from the lives of these animals and as soon as they become inconvenient they're tossed away as if their lives don't matter.

They do the same thing to the people in their lives too and wonder why they're so miserable. My answer to them- you have no fucking heart. No loyalty, no respect, no honesty. They don't deserve to breathe the same air the animals do- which there are 15 less of them now.

I can only control my small world. My apartment. Every animal under my roof will get all the food, medical care, cleaning, and love I can possibly pour into them. Everything they'll ever need. Times can get shitty and sometimes I have to cut corners- but when shit hits the fan my animals always eat first, I would live out of my car before I gave them up and I'll go broke if I have to when they need medical care. I will also be there when they die if it's possible. Holding them through their last breath and until they are laid to rest. That is my promise.

I would do the exact same thing for that one special person in my life, if he ever shows up. He better damn well feel the same about me too. Because in my life, these things are not disposable.

The rest of the world seems to have gone crazy. If there was another planet I could live on, you can bet your ass I'd be there. With my animals.
