Menu du jour:
Bills Get Paid

I was in a weird mood today.

Weird because I was so very indecisive with my day. I eventually eeked something out. I had to go to the pet store to buy more cat food anyway, so I figured I'd start there. Swung by Chevron first to get a little gas and run Roger through their car wash machine. He was a dirty bird. I like having a clean car.

Swung by a Ross, would you believe I found nothing of interest??

After getting the cats' food I went to Aaron Brothers, a while back my old boss gave me a signed CD from jazz musician Chris Botti, who he saw in Vegas - and who I've now fallen for- and I wanted to see if they had ready-made frames nowadays for signed CDs like they do or used to, for vinyl records. No such luck. I might have to find a creative way to do that.

I went to Jamba Juice after that for "lunch", had myself an orange dream machine, re-reading a book by Toby Barlow, Sharp Teeth, an excellent werewolf book if you need a recommendation. I didn't even stop by the Borders that's right next door like I would normally- just haven't been finding anything in the store lately. Sometimes I have to give the book stores a rest and hope they get new stuff when I come back. Maybe I just haven't been in a shopping mood.

I dropped by Hallmark for a birthday card for AZ. His birthday is at the end of this month. I was slightly disappointed with the card selection- I can usually find one that makes me laugh out loud- I settled for an inner chuckle. I kept trying to decide what I was going to get him. He's mentioned a new pocket knife (which you know I have a knack for picking out- but my tastes are expensive), a coffee maker (which he desperately needs). The TJ Maxx next door helped me to decide. They had a nice 10" Lodge cast iron skillet. He'd also mentioned he'd really like to have a cast iron skillet so there ya go. I don't have a lot of $$ to spend so thankfully it was in my price range. I also joined the stainless steel drinking bottle rage- but only because one of the ones they had was bright blue with some badass gold koi fish on it.

I went home. I did my books to find out what my $$ situation is and paid my bills. Less than $200 left until the last day of the month. Insurance is due next month too, so the situation will be even worse after bills are paid. Weeeee. Fun to be me.

Anyhow, happened to look at the bag of cat food and realized it was the senior formula. Shit. I didn't have enough left to be able to go get it tomorrow so I got back in the car and before hitting the pet store ran over to yet another Ross because I thought I'd grab a scrubbie brush to go with the cast iron pan for AZ. I found just the right one I had in mind and went to the counter to pay. The lady joked with me about the scrubbie being *it* as far as what I bought. It was less than three dollars.

At the pet store I learned the new cat food I'm buying has bags that look so much alike I'm really going to have to pay attention. I get them turkey & rice, but it so happens that is sold in adult and in senior formulas. It looks exactly the same but for the words "senior" or "adult" in strategic places. At the bottom of the bag. Where it could easily hide and trick you if you're not paying attention- like I was obviously not the first time around.

Came home. I took a nap with Galaxie near my head. I've cleaned my hammies cages and the rat condo.

So overall the day was ok. I'm supposed to go to lunch with the old coworker that I was supposed to meet last week. I had hoped to take her downtown to a nice little restaurant I've been having a craving for- but due to the $$ situation I will suggest we go to an asian restaurant I know that has really good lunch specials. Other than that I'll just be cleaning and maybe a short trip to the grocery store.

Tuesday I think I'll still make an allowance to go see The Time Traveler's Wife. I have to do something fun right? This is only if I can contain my spending at the grocery store. I just need to get a few staples, so as long as I stick to that list I should be able to go. I have enough to buy the $200 plane ticket for October to go see AZ which I will probably buy Tuesday.

I hate being broke. :-( At least my bills get paid.
