Menu du jour:
An Interesting Cast Of Characters

I've had an interesting day off so far.

I got up semi-early. Did my usual morning chores. Spent some time on the balcony before it got to be over 100 degrees. So far so good.

Bad vibes in the house due to my sister and her hub, drove me from the house on my limited budget. I went to Starbucks to get an iced coffee, I've barely been able to keep my eyes open lately. I figured if I was sitting out in the heat I'd be less annoyed by my environment. Three guys sat outside at one point. They annoyed me. Through their conversation I gathered that at least two of them were married. They spoke of nothing interesting and spewed garbage from their mouths. Even burping out loud. And some church going people would call me a heathen. Whatever. Thank goodness they left.

After being in the heat for a while I sought the shelter of the Borders next door. I'm reading a dud of a book, but for lack of having anything else to read I continue with it. I was hoping to find something more promising. Instead of finding a book, a man found me. Don't get any ideas, this man is way out of my age range. Anyway he started speaking to me about books, he was holding a pictorial history of Princess Diana. He kept saying I intrigued him somehow. I had to decipher this through a very thick accent, that I found out was Swedish. I couldn't even tell you his name, it is very different. He kept asking to come with him for a drink, right then- and eventually turned into later. Due to his persistency I relented, I'll be meeting him later in the evening. I could very easily not show, but he asked if I promised, and since I said I did, I will go and see what he has to say. He asked me to meet him at this particular place that I imagine is very public, so it'll be fine. I just can't imagine what he would want to talk to me about. But it seems I'm an older man magnet anyway, just look at the crew I hang with at the car shows- most twice my age, all very cool people. So hell, what's a new friend, even if he is twice my age (or more).

Brings me to think about what people tell me, about having an old soul. I can't imagine what would attract most people to me, but I think most people I meet and like have what I'd probably deem "old souls". People tell me I have one. Sure I'm a bit unusual looking, but I can't imagine that would be it. Something to ponder I guess.

I went to the grocery store after that little encounter. I seem to have lost my touch saving money lately. I spent twice as much as I intended on spending. It'll just cut into my budget for next week, which will be meager, but I won't need much from the store next week. Maybe just milk and a few fresh veggies. I saw my apartment manager. She checked herself into....uh, a mental health facility? Is that what they call a looney bin nowadays? So this last week has been rough for her. She says they've diagnosed her bi-polar. She even had to borrow money from my sister this week, I think for medication? I haven't really talked to her about it. It's not my business as far as I'm concerned.

I came home and talked with AZ, since he texted me to call. I told him about my interesting afternoon. He didn't have a whole lot to say.

So. I guess I'm going to get up and go eat something, and then meet up with this Swedish guy. See what he has to say. There's going to be a bit of a language....accent barrier, but it might turn out to be pretty interesting. Who knows.
