The depression hits everyone at the shelter.

My co-worker who last week lost her foster kitten to panluke (aka kitty parvo), is still suffering with her loss. She tears up a lot at work and I feel so bad for her. Our direct supervisor took her aside today and gave her information on some sort of psych help we have access to through the job. I think that made her worse. If she's anything like me, it depresses me more when people offer "help".

Today was a long day. It wasn't horribly busy, but I managed to get a lot of filing done since there was three of us today. I'm glad I have tomorrow off. Granted it's not for the best of reasons.

The volunteer whose friend did not adopt my Vincent, came to the counter this morning and just shook her head and said "I am SO sorry". We talked about it for a while, she seemed almost as mad as I was- especially since she filled me in on what the "medical emergency" was that she had. It was really total bullshit- I already suspected. Funny thing is- the lady did call later in the day- I suspect the volunteer told her how pissed I was. I didn't take the phone call.

On a bonus note though, Vincent's actual adopter called today to say how well he was doing. That he is fun and just a little love, not at all like the scared little kitten they met at the shelter yesterday (which is why I had to sell his personality so hard). She told me she had come home from the grocery store and he was "helping" her unload the groceries (he loves bags a LOT). She assured me that he will have it very good with them.

I'm house/petsitting for a volunteer at the shelter. She's got two cats and a dog. I'm sitting here thinking about how I'm going to fit them into my day.

There are simply not enough hours. Tomorrow is manageable. She'll be leaving in the morning so I won't have to worry about morning tasks- I take my rattie to the vet at 9am. I'll probably try to get over there before I leave for the car show that starts at 4- so I gotta get her dog a pill and maybe try to fit in a walk. Then after the car show I've gotta go back over there to put him in his kennel for the night. Come home and put my cat to bed, make sure my rats get their out time too. But the rest of the work week will be hard. I work at 7:30 Saturday and Sunday. I have to make sure my ratties/hammies get fed, my cat is set up for the day, I'm dressed and ready for work. Then run over to her house, make sure her cats are set up, get the dog out of the crate and outside with his treats, and his kong toy and get to work on time. (ha!) I'm going to have to get up at four or five in the morning to get that done. Aaaaaaa! Then get off work, go over to her house, take her dog for a walk, water the plants, pick up poo, put her dog to bed- she wants him to bed around 9 or so- which is my cat's bedtime and my rats' out time. This will be interesting. Good thing she's coming back Monday, and at least I have Sunday/Monday off to fit things in a little better. It's just the two days I gotta scramble.

Galaxie I suspect is the one pooping in the apartment. It's suspect because it was there after the kittens left to get spayed/neutered. Then when Vincent came back, no poo. Then when he leaves, poo in the morning today discovered by my sister's husband. No one has actually seen anybody do it- but the times are suspicious. It could still be my sister's cat. Lord knows there's been enough stress and change in the last week, with the foster kittens leaving, my nephew being born, the furniture moving around, a big screen tv (my dad gave to my sister) appearing, strange people in and out of the apartment. It's just a lot for them to deal with. They're acting pretty normal otherwise, except for this.

On top of my Sway having more mysterious lumps, my Slinky isn't eating as much as she used to, and seems to be losing muscle mass, she's just not as firm as she used to be. I'm concerned that maybe she needs to be looked at as well- but I wouldn't have a clue what for- she may just be showing her age (3 years in July).

Never ending!!!
