Sway's Appointment
I love my veterinarian. He's frickin' awesome.
So I took Sway in for a consult on her growths. He believes one may be infected from one of her two surgeries. The other is definitely a new growth. He's not too keen on doing any surgery on her. The one growth is small and he believes it to be benign. The other infection site may or not be more growth- but he wants to treat it for the simple "infection" first and see how she reacts to treatment. So he gave her an injection (a $30 shot he didn't charge me for), and gave me antibiotics.
I also told him, to charge me for another office visit if he is able to take a quick look at Slinky as well. In the last couple of weeks she hasn't really been herself. She stays in her hammock most of the day and doesn't come down to eat the fresh food in the morning like she usually does. I even try to hand her some food that she really likes and she hasn't been interested. The doctor was more than happy to take a look at her. He thinks her breathing is a bit more labored than it should be. She's definitely lost muscle tone, maybe some weight as well. We're on a consensus that she may soon leave the world, that it may be a sign or symptom of deterioration. So he suggested making her as comfortable as possible and "bribe" her with anything she might want.
He even picked up Switch for a short time- and found a small growth on her! Aye. Nightmare. But at least he found that and I can keep an eye on it.
He only charged me one office visit, and for the antibiotics. Granted, I didn't walk away with much good news at all, but he could have charged me much more. He's a very generous and understanding man. We need more of him in the world.
So my little ratties will need some extra TLC from this point forward. I'm not looking forward to what may be coming, but I intend to make it as comfortable as possible for them.
